Wings Recovery offers a women-only, trauma-focused treatment experience in a शांत coastal setting near San Diego. Our Residential Program provides 24/7 clinical support in a safe, structured environment where women can step away from daily stress and fully focus on healing alongside peers who understand their journey. Our expert clinical team utilizes evidence-based therapies including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, DBT, and CBT to treat trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and dissociative conditions. Each client receives a minimum of four individual therapy sessions per week, along with group therapy and holistic services such as acupuncture, equine therapy, and music therapy. Wings Recovery also offers a full continuum of care, including Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), ensuring seamless step-down support and long-term stability. Located near the coast, our comfortable residential home promotes healing through community, structure, and integrative care that supports mind, body, and spirit.

  • Carlos X Montaño, Jr., PsyD

    Chief Executive Officer

    Dr. Carlos is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the counseling and treatment field since 2003. He has the unique experience of working both operations and clinical positions in the treatment field and now enjoys leading the Wings teams in providing the highest standard of care to clients. Dr. Carlos specializes in co-occurring disorders and substance use disorders. His theoretical orientation of Family Systems helps clients understand family dynamics, generational trauma, and how to stop the family-of-origin issues from continuing. His experience with treating trauma is through Trauma-Focused CBT and Brainspotting. He continues to run groups due to his passion for clinical work and to gauge the client’s perspective on the services provided at Wings. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and riding bikes with his friends.

  • Chris Small, MD

    Medical Director

    Christian Small, MD is board certified in addiction psychiatry, general psychiatry and family medicine. He is one of a handful of doctors in the US who have the experience and training to treat full spectrum medical and psychiatric illness. Dr. Small has become a leader in delivering evidence based addiction practices, medical and psychiatric care to addiction treatment programs. He is the founder of Headlands Addiction Treatment Services, an innovative company bringing the highest level of patient care to substance treatment and mental health programs. Dr. Small was previously employed by the Veterans Administration in La Jolla as an addiction psychiatrist and at the University of California San Diego. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine and completed a residency in Psychiatry and Family Medicine at UCSD.
